Overview
This module is a resource for PBIS Leadership Teams as they develop their system for responding to challenging behaviors. In this module, teams will learn the four parts to developing a system in early childhood settings, tips for training staff on the system, and how the system connects to discipline policies. Participants will explore information from TFI Features 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, and 1.12 on how to develop a system to respond to challenging behavior in a developmentally appropriate manner for young children.

Learning Objectives:
- Understand why changing adult behavior is an important component of the process
- Learn how to define challenging behaviors
- Understand the difference between TFI language of staff-managed and office-managed behavior and terms such as safe and unsafe behavior
- Identify what a flowchart is and why it is important for the system
- Understand the continuum of strategies for responding to behavior
- Identify the process used in early childhood for collecting behavior data
- Identify elements of professional development and training staff on the system for responding to challenging behavior
